Dai Fujiwara’s last collection as the brand's creative
director definitely left the crowd impressed. It was no ordinary fashion show; the
show had live pianists playing tunes of familiar childhood songs such as “twinkle
twinkle little star” and started off with teams rolling out pieces of paper
then folding them and stapling them into origami garments. Models dressed in
black then walked on the runway and were dressed by the artists who created

Set in the designer’s beautiful showroom, the atmosphere
was quite cozy and warm. This collection to me was all about perfected layering
and wonderful color combinations. Each outfit was simple yet sophisticated. Lavish
materials such as mink, silk and cashmere were used. The color palette was
accessible and easy to wear, it included metallics, beiges, greys, navy, and
black.

influence and how she draped the fabric to create this collection.

DAY 1:
ART/C
“Marrakech Express” Collection
A Moroccan designer with one-of-a-kind Couture pieces. Based
in Paris, he has a network of private clients and has already designed clothes for
Kelly Rowland’s video and for singer Beth Ditto. The pieces are made in Morocco
by locals, using local fabrics. I talked to the designer at his presentation
and asked him what he thought of Middle Eastern women and he said he loves
their warmth. When asked about his influence as he designs a collection, ART/C
states “I love when a woman makes an entrance” and I’m sure this is the case
with all of his pieces.
